    OFGC Steel Challenge 6-5-10

Just putting this out there for any of you close that would like to make a Steel Challenge match near Fort Smith, Arkansas on June 5th (Sat). You can be our guest at the Old Fort Gun Club river range near Barling, AR. My wife and I will be going unless it's rained out. PM me if interested. Love to meet you. Match fee is $10 and minimum round count is 150 on six stages (bring double just in case...re-shoots happen, and misses don't count) USPSA rules, bring your most trusted 22lr pistol or your favorite carry piece in 9mm, 40S&W, or 45acp, holster and mags. Check in starts at 9:30, and start time around 10 am. Learn some of the rules, get to meet some great folks (and me), informal for the most part but always safe, bring your gear and some water (maybe some skeeter repellent), and have some fun! I know opportunities don't arise often for some who have never been to a match of any sort and we always look forward to friends that will help pick up brass! No need to be a club member....you'll be our guest. That's as far as I'll go..(bring your own ammo and ten bucks)....except for HotGuns (I've got you covered if you show). You know what I look like.

    RamRod,

Thanks for the invitation. One of these days I might just take a few days off, jump in the gas guzzling SUV, and take a long road trip out there. You guys always seem to have a great time.

Have fun and let us know how it goes!

Went great! Got a little bit of sunburn, but the kind that turns into a tan real well for me. No blisters! We had a great day, and now I know my wife is saving us in the long run shooting the SIG 45 compared to the Glock 9mm. She just flat out hits her targets with it. The times will tell in the end, but she shot 13 over par, and I'm embarrassed a little bit that I went more than that. Last stage kicked my butt, and I knew it would when we passed it on the walk to the second to last stage. I'm low and to the right on the long distance targets now. All in all I'm proud of my wife for having chosen what she thought was best for her this year. My thumb is a bit sore from reloading her single stack magazines. But I love to watch her shoot, and she gets a lot more out of it than I do because she's new at it. The times will tell once we get them emailed to us from the club. I took two penalties today while she didn't take any. I keep telling you all she'll best me one day, and I've been waiting for it too long. Today got her a lot closer than what I figured it might. I've got no qualms about a woman kicking my butt at a sport I introduced her to. She means everything to me and she should. In the meantime I'll keep doing my best. Not to be better than her, but to get her to be the best she can be. I'm proud of her. My apologies for no pics. It was sort of fast paced since about 90% were shooting rimfires. Our brass recovery program got cut short a few times because of that.
Missed all of those who couldn't make it today.
