4-Year-Old Shot 3-Year-Old Brother to Death, Texas Police Say

A simple trigger lock/small gun safe could have prevented this.
So sad to hear stuff like this, if you have kids please be safe with your guns.

I heard that this morning on the news. I hope the people who believe that you can simply store your guns out of reach will read this. Very sad and unnecessary with all the ways you can have quick access and store your guns safely from your kids.

Horrible news! Small gun safes are not that expensive.

It is better to have your gun and not need it, than to need it and not have it!

You can get a COM safe for under $30 + shipping. When I bought my daughter her M&P 9c she got a gun vault with it.
Killeen Tx is also where the Luby's massacre occurred that started the TX CHL movement, damn sad that a woman keeping a gun for SD has to learn the hard way that kids are like little monkeys and will find a way to get something they want

Hopefully, the boy is young enough that the memory might fade. Gonna be tough for all involved.

Tragic story, especially considering that it could have easily been avoided.

As others have said what is unforgivable is that this could have been prevented. Two souls were destroyed that day...and both were innocent. I'm speaking of the children.

Parents, lock it up. There are no excuses. Never. Ever.

someone recently posted concerning guns and children that she was 90% in control of the gun and the child could be trusted.

    sure hope she reads this.
and if one thinks, well--ok, I'll be 99% .....no, still wrong

only 100% you being aware and responsible for your gun is enough.

Tragic and completely avoidable. Hopefully the 4 year old will not have lingering memories of this. The mother will go through the rest of her life knowing her negligence was the cause of her child death. Prayers go out to all involved.

Can't believe anybody with kids around would not lock them up! Not a very good parent.

Absolutely horrible article. I have two young ones and I am going home and double checking the locks just to be sure.

I use one of these for my live bedside gun. Mounts on a bedframe and can be detached for use as a gun case for secure transport (you can cable lock it on to something in your vehicle). Takes some worry away when stopping anywhere between home and the gun range.

Sadly, some people lack common sense and/or are not educated enough on matters.

One member mentioned if the child will remember what he did later in life. I'm wondering, if/when that child finds out that he once had a brother and *something happened to him, would the parent tell them the truth if he didn't remember anything about the incident?? Very tough.

A very tough lesson for all involved.
