As of right now they don't even know who owned the pistol, only that the police surmise that it was an illegal street gun.
At best the kid, and if it was a parents gun, both should @ the very least get Five years probation from this.

I've handled guns for about 50 years, and never had one "just go off", it was a conscious decision every time it went bang.

I've only been handling firearms for 30 years and have NEVER had one "just go off" either. That incident was just stupid.
I agree with Rick Ector's comment at the bottom of the story.Police do have the gun and tell 7 Action News that someone bought the gun off the street
