I suffer intermittent periods of Tinnitus in my left ear. Right now it isn't bothering me. I don't know if this buzzing sound can be directly attributed to a history of exposure to loud noise or not, but I served as a 13-B-10 cannon crewman in the Army. Even with baffled ear plugs, the reports were stunning. However, believe it or not, I think the intensity of my Tinnitus is affected by high and low atmospheric pressure. If anyone else with Tinnitus has noticed this anomaly, I'd sure appreciate your input concerning the matter.
Aside from this annoying problem, I was informed by an audiologist that my hearing is normal. They did add that I might have a bit of trouble comprehending the higher frequency voices of some girls and young women... Heck, I wouldn't understand the chattering of most girls and young women if their squealing voices were amplified by audio speakers.

been around lots of guns and warehouses, etc , echos have ruined my ears , not to mention loud music , ipods and crap like that , my "noise" is the sound you hear on airplanes that hissing sound , non stop never ends , but I sleep ok , Ive learned to concentrate , I also use 2 forms of hearing protection when shooting or using outdoor machines!
Have battled tinnitus some. Not really bad now at all. Some high frequency hearing loss in both ears due to loud music (concerts and self inflicted), shooting with no hearing protection, etc. I was at the out door range a while back and shot my .308 without putting my plugs back in. I was a little disconcerted that my ears didn't even ring. Not a good sign.
I have both major hearing loss and tinnitus for a number of reasons: (1) firefights, hand grenades, and incoming mortar/artillery rounds w/o adequate hearing protection, (2) shooting and being shot at indoors w/o adequate hearing protection, (3) 160db sirens and 100db two-way radio audio when riding in the cab of a fire engine w/o adequate hearing protection, and (4) many years of suffering incessant nagging by four ex-wives at close range w/o adequate hearing protection.
I have a weird hearing issue that the audiologist says is the reverse of a loss from loud noise. So I can hear a lot of stuff that my wife/ others can't, but I have a hard time with voices. I recently picked up a set of Surefire EP3 ear plugs. I started wearing them at work while running my forklift, and every once in a while for road noise when the wife leaves me the older car. These things have been awesome so far. They're unobtrusive enough that they're helping with the wife too. Haha

My ears ring all the time. A high pitched "eeeeeeeeeeeeee" all the time. Sometimes it seems louder than others, and sometimes it suddenly changes pitch (not often, I've noticed more when my head is stuffy). I don't seem to have any noticable hearing loss though. I seem to be able to hear things my wife and kids can't. I don't seem to notice it much in my day-to-day goings on, but when it is quiet it seems really loud. I used to sleep with a fan on all the time to drown out the ringing. I guess I finally got used to it and don't use a fan anymore.
Too much loud music, concerts, and working in furniture mills when I was younger. I think the i-pod in middle age didn't help either. I've had several really bad ear infections over the years and I seem to be prone to them.
