Prayers for Gus and for you and Mrs. Gunny. It's a painful decision to make but his suffering will end and his wait for you will begin. It's the single hardest decision I have ever made as far as I'm concerned.

May God Bless and heal your heavy hearts. rk

Prayers to you and Gus. It is a hard decision to make, but it needs to be done. Last year we lost our 16.5 year old miniature schnauzer. He was a 31# miniature and such a great dog.

Remember the good times and all of the joy he gave you.

I'm truly sorry GB....IMO, GSPs are the best dogs, second only to Labs. My wife and I ran a GSP rescue in Louisiana about 9 years ago. We covered East Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi.

    Good luck

I had a Gus too. It was hard and still hurts to think about. He had the same bleeding issue caused by tumors/cancer. Prayers sent.

Sorry to hear this GB. We have had dogs before but now have cats at home but even cat lovers know what you are going through, prayers sent. We love both dogs and cats. They become our babies not by blood but by love. Keep us informed.

It's a tough time for you...I've been there...I feel your hurt...Prayers going out for you and Gus.
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Prayers sent for you, the Mrs. and of course for Gus. I identify. Our Bruno is almost 15 and going down hill. We have had several scares in the past 12 weeks or so, but know the time is near.

    Keep us posted on Gus.

God bless GB. This is always a tough time. We all get too attached. I have 3 waiting at the bridge now and our current little gal is 13.

Prayers for you all. My first boy was also named Gus (springer). He developed bone cancer and we had to put him down. It is so hard but in the end, you have good memories of him and you know you always gave him your best.
    God Bless!

It is especially tough when you only have a very short time to prepare for it. Even when you know it is the right thing to do, it never feels like the right time - only that there should have been more.

I rescue and foster racing Greyhounds. It takes a special person to adopt senior dogs. I firmly believe there is a special place for those who adopt and care for seniors.

I wish you courage when the time comes, and solace after. Gus has had a longer and happier life because of you. You'll be there to help him cross, and that, too, is a gift.

We lost our 15yr old shepard/chow mix a few months back...still hurts when I take time to think about her. She was the 1st dog I ever really had.

    Sorry to hear about GMan...
