Handicapped pastor with a gun update!
Okay, I have finally been able to get with the Pastor and his precious baby you guys bought him and get training accomplished in a meaningful fashion. He's gotten the class for his concealed carry permit and now all that remains is to get him to the range to qualify (to MY standards -- much more stringent than the state or the NRA) with his new baby. He is rarin' to go! :danceban::danceban: He knows that I'll take pix of him on the line firing and post them here for all you fine folks who contributed to this great day to see. He is very camera shy and doesn't like to be the center of attention in any way because he doesn't like to be the ummmm target for pity for his situation. But he gets this.
You'll remember you guys got him a S&W M66 (via MiklColt45) in contributions and got it sent to my FFL and transferred to him. We were going to start training right then but my wife's case of breast cancer came up and I had to step UP for that. Now her treatment is winding down although she still has to undergo radiation for six and a half weeks -- 5 days a week and she is not looking forward to THAT since it seems to present more than a modicum of hassle and pain, but she is ready to begin and finish. That will commence THIS upcoming Monday. So I have been able to squeeze out the time to do his training.
Now all that remains is the range time.
SHOOTER-X I have to thank especially since he donated the MAXPEDITION satchel that the Pastor will use as his carry method by tying it off on the wheelchair or in various other situations.
The Pastor is MOST concerned by the active shooter scenario in the church since this seems to be occurring more and more frequently. So Shooter-X and I chipped in to buy him a set of CT Lasergrips for his M66. I got them tuned and zeroed to a max of 80 feet which is just the distance from his raised podium/stage at the front to the back doors of the sanctuary entrance. I shot several targets with the gun using JUST the laser and they all printed tight groups at 75 feet. I made a point of resting the heel of the grip on the firing platform aty the indoor range and firing as HE would under pressure with full house 357 125gr SJHP factory loads. I tried to upload pix of the target but can't post them because they're too big. If somebody can give me an e-mail so I can send them and crop them down and then post them here, I'd appreciate it.
