Lucky dogs. Friends of ours who have welcomed in a new younger dog when another dog is reaching the finish line have said that it really perks up the older dog.

That seems to be the truth, they seem to sense a new 'duty' and respond to it.

Never owned a GSD but I do like them. My wife used to have an all white GSD who she said was a great home protector.
I would like one one day but as of late, we really like hounds. Currently we have a blue tick and a basset.

Our older springer, Doc, had to wear doggie depends towards the end. He just leaked a lot and it was easier for all of us. (Just remember to remove them when you let him out to pee!!)

The younger dog has given new life to Magnito. In the past 3 days the young one has calmed a bunch. Marty Hayes visited and she fell in love with him.
