As someone of Irish decent, I can think of no more fitting blessing for him than the traditional Irish blessing for those that are about to embark on a new journey:
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields and,
Until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
I never got the chance to talk with him personally, but I wish his family well, and he will be in my prayers.

Late log on here too. I am shocked. I am saddened. I am speechless. He always had a word of wisdom with gracious kindness, and a wicked sense of humor here on CC. I am a "youngster" here, but he struck a chord early on, and I'll never forget how he helped so many.
He's now free of pain, and has no more worries and concerns. We've lost a great warrior, and we are worse for the loss, but better for what he did impart while here.
He carries his prized 1911 in perpetuity. May he rest in peace.
"He went on two legs, wore clothes and was a human being, but nevertheless he was in reality a wolf of the Steppes. He had learned a good deal . . . and was a fairly clever fellow. What he had not learned, however, was this: to find contentment in himself and his own life. The cause of this apparently was that at the bottom of his heart he knew all the time (or thought he knew) that he was in reality not a man, but a wolf of the Steppes."

Didn't know Bob personally, my loss.

My mother passed away just last April from lung cancer. I know she and Bob fought hard against this illness. I hope the family and friends know that he is no longer in pain and they find comfort in knowing how he lived

This is truly sad news,
Bob will be missed, Rest comfortably our friend.
May he enjoy the company of old friends and family, until the day we all meet again.

The flag at half mast always gets me, for some reason. Rest in peace, Bob, free of pain and sorrow.

Being a newer member here, I never had the opportunity to chat with Bob, but after reading all the replies to this thread, it is obvious that he was well respected here and will be missed for a long time to come.
Prayers for Bob's family from here in north texas..

That's terrible news. I think he would be happy to see how many friends here miss him.
