I read an article the other day that we must learn to unlearn as we get older and different things become important. Usually things we did not spare room for in our lives when we were younger. Also the idea of no turning points, just continuous change on a path that is always evolving in the ways we least expect.
I must tell you I have really enjoyed that photo of the phone in the Oval Office. Thanks.

Wow... that's a tough one. Also ironic. My sister has done an excellent job of causing "issues" and "disontent".... and there have been many years I did not want anything to do with her and there was absolutely no contact. Over the last year, I"ve tried.... but she has continued to be her nasty self. So, I wrote her and my brother a "we don't live forever and... " email, to which she would not respond.
So, sometimes, we just can't control what others do or happens , only what we do .... and we should always keep our priorities right.
The "what if's " in life, can only drive us crazy.

Wow and sincere condolences. That sure puts my whine-o-meter back to zero. A lot of my work is putting lives back together after years of family abuse. This site is a good place and a safe place to let your hair down. Prayers and healing to you and your family. Though this probably means little, you were a wise man to keep your family distant from the whirlwind of dysfunction. I'm just sorry that you were not able to make amends before his passing. Wise words you have shared.

Wow Steve - I wondered why you hadn't been around in a while. I'm truly sorry for your loss.
I can understand what you're feeling. My mom has mental issues - I've tried to reconcile, but I just cannot have her craziness and nastiness around my wife and kids. Sometimes you have to let go. That kills me, because I'm not the kind of person who gives up easily, but I had to realize that some folks don't want to be helped.
From your brother's perspective, you will all be together again soon. Take some solace in that.
