Got the greatest present today!
As some of you may remember from some earlier posts, my wife has had progressive MS (multiple sclerosis which slowly gets worse, not better) for years and has been confined to a wheelchair for about a year. She also has been unable to eat any solid foods (gastric paralasys) and lost her ability to speak about 9 months ago. She has also been slowly suffering disruption of her cognitive functions.
About ten this morning I got a phone call FROM MY WIFE! She liked to scare me to death, I hadn't heard her voice in so long. She said she woke up this morning feeling better than she could remember in a long time and discovered she could walk! She then found she could talk!!! I went home early and took her out for the first non liquid food in nine months. We just got back from shopping for a bunch of food for her as it is obvious that her digestive tract has started working again, something we were told was very difficult to start again once it shut down. Her cognitive functions, which were becoming more and more impaired, seem to be returning to normal.
Maybe you don't believe in miracles but I certainly do, we were sure that her end was approaching as she has been rapidly deteriorating the last several years. I'd just been praying I could hold up to the stress of watching it happen and if God was willing maybe she could improve some but WOW! I've been accused of being a tough SOB at times but I'll admit I had some tears of joy today! We have no idea what the future may bring but for now she has been handed back a normal life it seems. She even mentioned she wants to go shooting and roller blading again soon, what a woman!
All I can say is thank you God! When doctors give you no hope sometimes that's when things happen.
Hmmm, this may mean a Ladysmith in the near future.....

Oh my - how well I recall my feelings when you described what she had been suffering from all this time. But now -
What a blissful day this must have been for you and her. Joy of joys. May this be a miraculous turning point. I can but vaguely begin to imagine your total pleasure. Thx for relaying this great news.

EL, I had just watched the TV news and was pretty throughly disgusted with the world when I sat down here and read your post.
That phone call not only made your day, but mine too!
Thank your wife for me!
