    Another Update on my son

Scotty had his Neurosurgeon appointment Thursday morning and it went well. Most Docs don't believe that arachnoid cysts can cause pain and problems and we were afraid that would be the case with this Doc. We were pleasantly surprised to find out from him that he believes it is the cyst causing the pain and problems. As he said and as we have said many many times, the fact the pain is located right where the cyst is seem much too coincidental.

He will be having an MRI on the 3rd of June, and then a Neurologist appointment after that. The thought process being, before we resort to brain surgery, we should try every other treatment available to try to control or eliminate the pain first. That is great! We are not in love with the idea of having our 9 year old have brain surgery. But if nothing else works, then we will do that.

The headaches continue. Sudden onset ones are the worst. We are very happy to be on the way to a resolution hopefully.

One unfortunate aspect of this treatment is, it will probably be a few months before we really have a resolution. And just this week, i got a call from a potential job back home in Memphis. I did do a phone interview with them and they really liked me and wanted to fly me down for a face to face interview but, i had to turn that down and take myself out of the running for it since Scotty's treatment will be somewhat drawn out and i do not want to start over with new Docs. My son is far more important than a job and possible move back home. It will always be there, we need to get him healthy first.

Thank you for the prayers and as before, their continuation would be greatly appreciated.

Everything sounds very promising Mike. Yeah, it's gonna be a real bummer waiting for the process to play out, but it has to be. We will continue to pray for you, my friend.

I'm glad the appointment went well, and the Neurosurgeon had some positive answers for you. I'll keep your family in my prayers.

I get so sick of hearing about fathers who abuse or just don't care about their sons. Thank God Scotty doesn't have a father, he has a FATHER! Family is always first and I agree that maybe God has moved you so Scotty will get the best care and have a quick and full recovery. I know all of our prayers continue for all your family.

I haven't been on the forum in a while but was doing some catching up and saw your threads about your Son, Mike. He and your whole family will be in my prayers. I am so sorry for what you are going through right now. Unfortunately, I am able to relate. My youngest daughter was born with severe heart problems and had a 70% chance to make it to age five. I don't want to get on a tangent here about her but if you feel that it would be helpful to talk to another parent who has been through something vaguely similar to what you are going through, I would be more than happy to talk to you. During our numerous hospital stays it was always helpful for us when we were able to connect to parents going through similar circumstances. I would urge you not to get too high or too low with the latest update from his physician as we have found that the opposite is often just around the corner. (Lots of ups and downs). Stay strong and allow yourself to laugh. It can be very healing.
