We Just Lost Gus, Our Pointer, AKA The G-Man, Today.
Regulars to this forum will remember a thread I posted about our Gussy a little over a year ago.
Well, Gus recently had his 15th birthday and there will not be a 16th.
Here is the thread I had posted.........
http://www.defensivecarry.com/forum/...ng-better.html
There are a couple of pictures of him on that thread at post 31.
At that time we thought we were going to lose him, but he rallied and was back to his normal crotchety self.
Today, time caught up with the G-Man. We still have our other four legged children, but it was he who was the prime defender of the castle against trespassing racoons, cats and deer that would stray onto our property.
This is the third we have lost during the last five years, and it doesn't get any easier. I'm sitting here at work right now trying to function and hoping nobody looks into my office to see the condition I'm in.
We've known for a while this day was coming but you can never prepare yourself for the day it actually happens.
Gus has lived with us for roughly five years. We rescued him when he was about 10. Older dogs are harder to place as everyone seems to want a puppy.
The warning signs of advancing age have been with us for a while.
I'm sorry, I have to stop and take a break now. I can't type any more.
Please say a prayer for our G-Man who has now crossed the Rainbow Bridge and is chasing rabbits in heaven.
I may add more later. The vet who helped us at the end is a saint.
