Congratulations. Good news story. You remind me of my dad.
I once asked him how the vet NCO's in his company in the 91st infantry marching from Naples in WWII treated the just-turned-20-yr-old, OCS-grad 2nd lieutenant new arrival. From some stories, he took his lumps but told me that they were "nice" to him.
So my dad became a vet making me possible and made a career of many friends and mutual respect wth NCO's and others.
The Command Sgt Maj of his battalion after he made Lt Col at 38 years old played Santa Clause and was especially generous to me and my brother when we were 7 and 5.
Dad became full bird at the age of 42 after just four years as a Lt Col and was serving in Vietnam three years later when less-dedicated colonels were taking retirement after getting their orders.
Proud to have you on our side.

Thank you everyone....I had the privilege of serving with some top notch NCOs....some of my best friends are MSgts, SFCs, CTNC/CTNCS and GySgts...because that is the level I'm used to operating (the tactical level). The risk aversion by many in my career field and pay grade becomes sickening at times. My goal is to avoid the lobotomy that seems to happen (but hear they hide the scars better for Lt Cols). I've been mentored by the best, and I continue to do the same for my jr officers and NCOs (but stay out of the lane that is strictly "NCO business"). What makes it easier is the fact I have zero discipline/financial problems in my shop...which means I'm coming due...

Congratulations!! Is it immediate in the AF? or do you get a sequence number and have to wait like we do in the Army? I'm waiting on my sequence number to hit for Major right now.
