To me, the important difference between officers and NCO's regarding leadership skills is the view from a different perspective. Obviously there's the chain of command thing and levels of responsibility. But the perspective one can glean from leadership skills of the squared away NCO should not be overlooked by any officer worth their weight.

You Sir, see that in your men when you mentioned mentoring from your Sr. NCO's and are to be commended for understanding the value they offer coming at you from a different perspective. (If that makes any sense.)

    Congratulations on the promotion!

    Congratulations sir.

And while I'm not one of your NCO's, the credit is definitely appreciated.

It's all been said...so DITTO from me...Congrats Sir!!!
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
