    10th,

    No words can heal your hurt right now. Just know that lots of us are praying for you.
    I think you are right that the mix of emotions your mom must have been feeling are difficult, if not impossible to sort out.
    I grew up with a mom who had her own issues-the result of them was a severe drinking problem that affected the whole family.
    I loved and love her-but she was very difficult to deal with til the day she died.

    There are days when I wish I had all the answers. Then, I remember, I run from people who tell me they have all the answers.

    May God grant you great comfort, even in this terrible time.

    Thanks for all your prayers.

    Yes, there is most assuredly a feeling of community here. I'm generally a fairly private person - I don't do Facebook or the like. But this place is different. I've gotten to "know" many of the members, and respect many of their thoughts and opinions, even if we don't always agree.

    My mom will be flying (for the first time!) back to Italy this Friday, arriving on Saturday. I hope we can do the funeral and burial there early next week, so I can close this chapter and move on as best I can. Plus - I'll miss being away from my kids, even if it is only for a few days.

    Thanks for all your kind words, thoughts, and prayers. They really do help a lot.

    There is not much for me to say that hasn't already been said here.

    Words fail me 10thmtn,,

    This is all I got,,,,,,,,

    The Weaving

    My life is but a weaving
    Between my God and me;
    I may not choose the colors,
    He knows what they should be;
    For He can view the pattern
    Upon the upper side,
    While I can see it only
    On this, the under side.

    Sometimes He weaveth sorrow,
    Which seemeth strange to me;
    But I will trust His judgement,
    And work on faithfully;
    'Tis He who fills the shuttle,
    He knows just what is best;
    So I shall weave in earnest
    And leave with Him the rest.

    At last, when life is ended,
    With Him I shall abide,
    Then I may view the pattern
    Upon the upper side;
    Then I shall know the reason
    Why pain with joy entwined,
    Was woven in the fabric
    Of life that God designed.

    So sorry.

    10th....prayers for you and yours
    I've had friends take their life, and I've been on way too many calls at work where people attempted or completed the act. I know what you and your family have been dealing with.
    Mental illness is horrible. I deal with that everyday on the job too. Sometimes we can help people, sometimes we can't. You said it best yourself in that you can't help someone until they want to help themselves.
    Don't feel guilty. Maybe it was better the kids didn't see their grandma acting that way and have their memories of her be solely that. You did what you thought was best and its ok.

    'Kid therapy' is great isn't it? When I lost my dad to cancer, I lost count of how many nights I'd rock my 6 month old boy to sleep in the recliner and fall asleep myself pondering the what-ifs, and how my son will never know his grandpa. But I always knew he would meet him again someday and that I can pass on to him what my father passed on to me.
    You will get through this and so will they.

    We have a great group of folks here.

    Having lost my brother to suicide back in February, I feel many of the same things you do. Here it is 5 months later, and I am still pissed off at him for what he did. I hope that I will eventually be able to come to terms with what he did, but we will never know why. Sorry for your loss, and I hope things will get better with time.
