My wife's cousin, also a SEaL, was one of Petty Officer's Tumilson's 'escorts' back to his hometown.
It's never good burying a shipmate, but the side story was Tumilson's dog Hawkeye..........
Good Dog, and one hellauva Sailor.

Yeah, very sad indeed.... I have a long time friend that was a Seal Team Instructor and a member of Seal Team Six years ago. I haven't seen, or talked to him in years, but I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was tore-up at the news of that Chinook being shot down... I just hope that anyone responsible for the attack dies screaming!
The picture shown in the piece really does tug at the heart though, very sad for sure.

Amazing how the dog knew his master was inside that casket, takes a special kind of friend to get that kind of loyalty

If you don't understand that kind of loyalty, you don't have a heart.

Of all of God's non human creations, I believe the Lord has a special affinity towards our canine companion's. What a gift to us all.
Their undying loyalty, and love for their human masters is unrivaled by any other animal in the animal kingdom. Their ability to heal us, console us and help us overcome adversity is so unique, you can't help but believe the Lord has a special place for them in Heaven when they leave this world.
Rest in Peace Petty Officer Tulmison. And have no doubt your family will care for your companion Hawkeye in your absence. Until you two are reunited.

My Mom took me to see Ole Yeller when I was a kid. I haven't watched a dog movie since. I don't ever want to experience that again. For this reason I didn't open the link, but my prayers go out to Mr. Tumilson's family and his beloved companion Hawkeye. RIP a true American hero!

I agree with Inspector71, I couldn't watch the video...I recently lost my loyal dog and best friend Billy. I say let's post up some insurgents taking a dirt nap to cheer us up. The utmost respect and God Bless Our Military Forces..our true heroes!
Why?? Because at the last second, the Police are minutes away.

It sure says a lot about him, and how he must have treated his dog to get that kind of loyalty. Makes it even sadder.

Some say there aren't dogs in heaven. If that's so; Lord, forgive me, but I'm not so sure I wanna go...
RIP Jon, I know you already know this, but they got the guy.
