Lost a buddy at work, and his son, to a drunk driver

I don't frequent this part as much as I probably should. But as the title says, I'm asking for prayers for a friends family. Actually two families. A couple of guys from work have been teaching their wives and sons to ride motorcycles. They were returning home last night and the sons were riding on the bikes with their dads. A woman stoned out of her mind sideswipes one bike in the corner, then hits the other head on. The father and son that got hit head on died at the scene. The other father and son were taken to the hospital and released with scrapes and bruises. It's an absolutely tragic incident. And so I don't cause the mods any more work, I'll keep my thoughts on the driver to myself. If anyone is interested here are a couple articles on the accident. Thanks.

I saw that in the Charlotte news sorry to hear of ur loss. She stated to the police she did not do it claiming she was too high to drive when they found her in the woods down the road. She had pulled into an off road and got out there.

Sorry for their families loss,one more oxygen waster killing a father and son that were productive members of their community.Not to hijack,but no matter how much they advertise about driving impaired people still do it,there was an Off Duty Border Patrol Agent down here rear ended a guy at a red light,the guy died about 4 hours later,The BP Agent is now facing felony Intoxication manslaughter

I too know the tragedy of drunken drivers. Back in the 1990's, my uncle and his family were traveling from Richwood, WV back to Huntington, WV from a Bluegrass festival and were hit by a drunk driver, his third offense.

Apparently the rescue people thought he was dead on impact so they worked on his wife, child and the drunk driver. One of the EMT's found he was still alive and they air lifted him to a Charleston, WV hospital. He survived but was never the same and finally died from the complications of this tragedy in 2000.

The drunk driver never spent one night in jail. His family were some kind of important people in Nicholas Co. WV and got him out of this incident. As far as anyone knows, this drunk is still out there on the roads.

Prayers sent. As a motorcycle rider, the other guy is one of my major concerns. You have to watch out for everyone else and try to leave yourself an out.

Prayers are up for all involved, including yourself. Rider here also, agree with Hiram. I hope she spends some time in jail thinking of her decision to drive that night. Again, prayers for the families.

I would be keeping an eye on this person as they became a hood ormament as they were bouncing over my car.

As a motorcycle rider as well. You have to drive everybody's else vehicle for them.

Not to argue, because I know the concept from driving a tractor trailer. I went out to the scene yesterday. It's a blind curve, about 20 mph. Would have been a left hand curve for them. I don't think the van ever turned, and from the looks of it she never hit the brakes or waited till after the impact to hit them. He never stood a chance most likely, just too fast and too unexpected. Plus having his 19 year old son on the back means you both have to react similarly.

FWIW, they are looking into 2nd degree murder for the driver or felony death by vehicle. I'm hoping for 2nd degree murder at this point.

Prayers sent for the family and for justice in court as well.
