It's official!

Got home today and there was a FedEx envelope waiting for me. Inside was the formal, in writing job offer with all manner of forms to fill out and the company handbook, new hire package and a 1GB USB drive with all the new employee reading and benefit info on it.

It's going to go a bit faster than I anticipated, they want us relocated by April 2nd, but my start date is March 5th. I will fly to Palo Alto CA for orientation and then start training in Las Vegas for 6 weeks.

Our lives are about to pick up speed and there will be some major changes. I would think that after the 1st of March or so, I will probably be absent from the site here for some time while the whirl wind of change is really taking its course on us. But it should settle down by early summer.

Thank you all so much for the well wishes and prayers. This is going to be interesting.

On one hand, I am very excited to start this new career and chapter in my life. On the other it is sad and somewhat scary to leave the comfort of a career I have had and a job I have done for over 17 years. This is actually a little stressful.

Very cool Mike. I must have missed your other posts on the topic. Where will you end up? Back in Tennessee or in Nevada?

God never gives you more than you can handle, Mike. You might be stretched a bit, but my guess is you'll handle it just fine.

Congrats Mike! I am glad for you.

Definitely understand the change thing and yes it can cause stress levels to rise but, we live in a constant state of change and seldom realize it.

I know you have been anticipating a move back to Tennessee for quite sometime now, and it is about to happen. Why not look at this as not a change, but a brand new opportunity for a life much improved? Kind of like the half empty, half full glass, it's all in the way you look at things.

I believe all fedex planes are now equipped with a soccer ball that will provide companionship for marooned crewmembers. There's comfort in knowing that.
