    Bad news yesterday

As some of yall know, I am a Merchant Marine. I went back to work a month or so ago. I was planning on staying at work until sometimes in December or so. I got word yesterday that my daughter in law was killed in a auto accident. My son had just gotten home from Iraq last Monday. And I was planning on going and staying several weeks with them when I come home. I'm on my way home now to be with him. I'll be checking in on yall from time to time.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Ashley and her brother were in the Ga. Air Nat. Guard, and were on their way to drill for the weekend. A car ran a stop sign and hit them. Her brother is coming home from the hospital today. There is no pain quite like the pain you feel when your child is hurting and you can't do a thing to help.

Philip - that is most awful news, made even worse by your boy having only so very recently gotten back home.

There is little one can say of course, other than to offer profound condolences. Be assured tho, as you may well realize - you have friends here and it is good that you can share this tragic news - and so let us hopefully provide just a small measure of support and positive thought.

Both my own kids are long married and I can but imagine the impact of such an event.
