It's not about the caliber you carry, it's about how you USE it.

Most parents say prayers for their kids on a regular basis..... sounds as if a lot of yours were answered when your son walked in the door safe and sound.

So thankful this turned out without anyone getting hurt, especially your son.

Prayers and positive thoughts for him as he works his way through the 'after action' thought process.

I'm truly glad that your son and everyone come through this. Give him some space but check in with him regularly and see if he is ready to talk about it. First is denial, and if you are no careful depression can set in. Finding out that you are mortal at such a early age and under these circumstances can be really traumatizing. My son went through something like this during his 2nd deployment to Baghdad, he was concussed and knocked down by a incoming rocket. Now everyone has some therapy before they leave to come home. He just got back from his 4th deployment a week and a half ago when his wife was killed in a auto accident. They need the space, but at the same time they have to cross a certain line of acceptance of reality. I know from experience, this all seems like a bad dream to me also. I'm sure your son is feeling similar to this. I hop this helps some, all you can do is be there for him and support him. He is probably doing some soul searching and thinking a lot about what if. My thoughts and prayers go out to your son and the others involved. Just love him, Philip

It's safe to assume that in about 5 years, he'll be getting a permit.

    I'm glad he's okay.
