Sorry to here about the loss of your best friend. I also had a Red Dobie, his name was Brutus Stardust. Bloodline had Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie) in it .I had him almost 7yrs. I swear he was smarter then some people I knew. Had to put him down as his mind was starting to go.

As I read these comments, I know that my "adopted" dog is nearing that stage when the inevitible will have to happen.

I'm praying that when it happens, she just goes to sleep and does not wake up. Taking her to the vet for that final trip will just rip out my heart and soul.

I do know that loss, in the past I have had pets that needed to be put to sleep, it never is easy, even though we know they suffer no longer.

My thoughts and prayers to you for the loss of your dear friend. May you find peace and know that companion awaits you in the world beyond.

Sorry to hear that. It stinks. I've been there. It's worse than losing a family member sometimes (especially if they're an a$$ hole lol). Family Dogs are just good to the core.

Had a 15 year old lab that got to the point where I could tell it was time. So, the night before I was going to take him to the vet to put him down, I took him for a truck ride and gave him a dozen doughnuts and a pint of chocolate ice cream as his last meal. Next day as I was getting ready to take him to the vet, he was chipper and acting fine. So, I took him in and had the vet check him out instead of just putting him down when he was acting fine. $250 in tests later, and the vet tells me "he's fine, other than his blood sugar is thRough the roof" LOL! Took him home, and he lived another 9 months or so. I'll always love my old boy.

I am so sorry for you. My condolences. We lost our Black and Red Dobie to bone cancer and we still miss her.

Thank you all for the kind thoughts. It has not been good the last few days but I know my big girl's pain and suffering are at an end.

She came into this world loved and left it the same way. At least she was in good enough health to enjoy her last day with one last romp in the park.

Wow. She is adorable. I'm very sorry for your loss.

I love my dogs. I only have one at a time, and always swear that I won't get another when they die, but I always do. It's like losing a best friend every decade or so.
