Eight Weeks Old...

I always hate to read those threads about 'having' to lose a canine friend.
Three years ago we had to say goodbye to our 7 year old Grady, a faithful Rhodesian Ridgeback friend...it was very difficult.
Well, after three years, today was the day we picked up another Rhodesian Ridgeback, and his name is "Gunner". He is from the same breeder in Central Florida we used 10 years ago.
Our Irish Wolfhound, Maggie, is not quite sure what to make of this new 'thing' running all around the house.
I'm sure they will be sharing a doggy bed in the near future.
I can't get over how confident this little 8 week old pup is...he wants to play with our IW but can only reach her toenails...she would rather have a 'get to know each other' period before any commitment.
Needless to say, I'm very excited about the new RR and the good times ahead in watching an Irish Wolfhound, show the ropes to a brand new Rhodesian Ridgeback pup.
"That I cannot do."
"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."

Rhodesians ROCK! I like Gunner's "popsicle toes". Nice PUP!

They are so cute at that age.

I wonder if Maggie thinks you brought her a snack!

RR and IW in the same house. Nobody can say you'll not be well protected.
Little Gunner looks like a handful ... but then, most all little pups are. Hopefully he'll get the lay of the land quickly. And with the help of the "big gun" (IW), I'm sure he'll see how it's done quickly enough.
Congrats on the new little bundle of fun!

You know they're gonna be prizefighters when at 8wks they've got "Ahnold" musculature.
Wish I had shoulders like that ... Gunner's, I mean.

What a cute boy. Congrats on the addition to your family group.
We just got a new boy Pom....we call him the Tiny Terror. He is "in love" we my female (and fixed) Basset Hound. Have you ever seen elephants in a line....trunk to tail? He is kind of like that...Where she is...he is following so close if she stops...his nose is up her bum. She hates that and I don't blame her. He has started doing the boy dog "dance" on her side which she and I both hate....it is disgusting. I told him today, "Lick them while you can, because you are getting fixed the first chance we get". Other than that he is really adorable.
