Update...
Well, got the call from the doctor today. The biopsy was mostly precancerous but with signs of beginning cancer. They want me in for surgery as early as next week to do a total excision via Mohs Surgery. Nobody can give me a price except that it may be "expensive". Crud..... Looks like the ol' gun fund is going to be empty for a bit.
The joys of being an uninsured small businessman.
But I guess it beats the news being advanced cancer!

Hmmmm - well I guess better to know early than much later. Sorry to hear that.
Remembering my late Dad's one - it was IIRC well advanced but they excized it very thoroughly and it did not recur - that was back in about mid 1970's I'd guess. If caught now pre metastatic changes - all will be well but I hear ya re expense aspect. That bit really sucks.
Let us know once done - best got out of the way that's for sure.

Man I hate to hear that. But if caught early there is so much better chances of nipping it in the bud. Good luck, and my prayers are with you.

You are wise to get it taken care of. Back in 2000, I went to my doctor for a routine visit. Based on family history, she would highly recommend that I have a cholonoscopy. I agreed to the test and they found a 20 centimeter pre-cancerous polyp. I had the major surgery and have been free of trouble ever since. I am convinced that my doctor saved my life. Those of you over 50 - don't put it off!

Well, thanks for all the kind words everyone. Had the carving done today. Doctor says it looks good and 90%+ chance it'll never be a problem again. Of course they now want full body checks every six months. Says no extensive walking for two weeks. I said you gotta be kidding, I run a shop and walk all day. We compromised, he did some fancy "mattress" stitching and I agreed to try and be careful with how I walk and no kneeling or truck loading. Of course I DO have a forklift!
Now to await the dreaded bills.....

Glad that's out the way now and sounds most encouraging. No speeding now on that forklift
Oh - yeah - the bills.

Be careful about the work, we don't want all that work the doctor did to be ripped out. Keep us informed of how you are doing. And I will keep you and your wife in my prayers.
