Shout out to GI's, LEO and First Responders, Merry Season - and God Bless Bob Hope!
Least we not forget those that went before us........ That ensured that we have our rights and liberties..... We owe them much.
To those of you Army, Navy, Marine, Air Force and Coast Guard - and, our LEO and well dedicated professional and often ‘volunteer’ First Responders......... Please remember that you follow a long tradition of US Americans who....... would be proud of you.
Support your USO, Wounded Veterans/LEO and Civilian Volunteers organizations, and other causes that remember, in honorarium, our unsung Heroes of the past and today!
So, if you have the patience for this first video (below) ……….. 1943……… wow. Actually, there are much better ones that are more funny, on YouTube or PBS....(when PBS even shows history now....not so much these days).
I was very privileged to have met Mr. Hope my first time in 1988 in Acapulco, Mexico. He made this Marine feel that I was the most important person in the world, in a very short conversation with him. I had the exceptional privilege of seeing and talking to Mr. Hope in Palm Springs, Ca on several occasions in the 1990’s……….. God Bless Him!
The second video is more relevant for my Viet Bro’s who I ride with! Survivors guilt does not warrent not surviving! Live for your brothers. That message goes to all of my brothers from the last 12 years fighting............. We fight to live, sacrifice, so that the USA may live.
I am just putting this out there, for you to see or move on from, so that some of you may remember that every day, US Citizens put themselves selfishly on line, domestically or overseas, for all of us.
I miss Mr. Hope…………..he was the most gracious person who I ever met, in or out of uniform. There are very few people in our society now, of real multi-generational notoriety that respect the selfless sacrifice of so many, or dedicate the time to make other people pay attention to that fact. Of note, my respects to such people as Gary Sinise and Wayne Newton, who have given a lot in the last 20 years, to show appreciation. Oh, and even if you don't get Kid Rock...... (me neither) he has been a true friend of our deployed Service Members also.
But..... God Bless Bob Hope and his troup for 40 years of being there.......... in some far out places.....
Semper Fi,
An early one (1943):
And one of my favorite ones........... 1967..... For my riding Brothers!
Apologies, I always have 'survivors guilt' at this time of the year...................................
Semper Fi,
Until I die!

I think Bob Hope (and his entourage) was was the greatest thing entertainers have ever done for this country. While I always missed my chance to see him live, I often eat dinner at the restaurant Francis Langford, the young lady pictured singing at the start of the 1943 video owned here in S. FL. It has walls full of the memorilia of the "America's Greatest Generation" of entertainers.
