Well, as of today by a miracle of great tolerance on the part of my wife, we celebrate 25 years of marriage. Guess she's decided to keep me! When asked what we could do I figured we could buy a new 1911 together! That didn't fly......
So I better find some flowers and be prepared for a dinner date tonight!!

Perhaps there are some things you could do to make her a little more pliant?? This way she may approve of a 1911 as an anniversary gift.
If this works, let me know. My anniversary is comming up at the end of the month.
Congratualtions to you and your wife on the longevity of your marriage.
Congratulations on your silver anniversary, ELC.
I vaguely remember my 25th anniversary, 17 years ago.
When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.
Congrats ELCruisr, that is certainly a HUGE accomplishment.

Eric - hearty congrat's my friend - flowers would be best (for now ) . Work on ''things 1911'' a bit later.
I admire folks who have had a long and happy marriage - I always felt in a sense I had ''failed'' when I divorced after 15 years. That said I have two kids who are my best friends and I am now into year 7 of my second marriage and truly blessed.
I hope the various problems you have described elsewhere become lesser ones for you both and that you have a great many happy years together to look fwd to.

Congrat's to both of you. In this day of age, where +50% are headed for divorce, you are amongst the cherished for staying together.

Congrats! That's quite a milestone.
I thought you were going to 25 years old, which would have brought a remark of a different tone.

Congratulations, Eric, to you and your wife. May you have many more happy years together.
