    Lost my best friend yesterday

Today I had to make the heartwrenching decision to say good-bye to my Sleeping Partner, Protector, Bottomless Pit & and most of all my best friend Rocky. My Family owned this beloved pet for a little more than 11 years. After 24 hrs of not eating but would drink then this morning he would walk 3 steps and fall over so we took him to the vet and we just knew something was off cause he was not fighting the vet or techs at all. I think he knew it was his time to go. He laid there and would look up at us to as to tell us let me go. I am suffering so after great pain we made the decision to let him go peaceful and put him to sleep. I was able to bring my best friend home one last time and lay him to rest in the yard he protected and roamed for the past 11 years. And my family was able to keep our promise we made to always take care and love him until he was called home. So I ask for prayers to help guide me through this.

Maybe you'll meet again. We have three all from the same litter. I dread the day we must do the same.

I had to say goodbye to my coonhound right after New Years. It's a gut wrenching experience every time. Always a sad and sorrowful day. I am very sorry for your loss, buddy. I'll keep you in my prayers.

I've said goodbye to many a furry friend and understand your grief. We do for them what we can't do for our family loved ones. Hopefully, someday, we will all be together again.

...that's the thing about pets: They love you and they are always faithful to you, but you know you get to enjoy that for a sjhort time only... Gotta really embrace them when they are with us, and keep embracing their memory once they are gone... Remember too, dogs with a family live the most happy, fulfilled life you can imagine; they have no regrets, no sorrow, just one happy day after another until there are no more days, then they go away, happy....

    A Dog's Prayer

Treat me kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for though I should lick your hand between the blows, your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me do.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear.

When it is cold and wet, please take me inside... for I am now a domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements... and I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth... though had you no home, I would rather follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the softest pillow in the warmest home in all the land... for you are my god... and I am your devoted worshiper.

Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for although I should not reproach you were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst. Feed me clean food, that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, beloved master, should the Great Master see fit to deprive me of my health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful boon of eternal rest...and I will leave you knowing with the last breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.

    I feel your pain.

Had to do that same thing December 21, 2012 to our old dog. Like you, I brought her body back home and with the help of my father, we buried her in the back yard in a spot that I had picked out. I don't think I have cried as much that day than in a long time.

But take comfort that your companion was with you, gave you blessings and is waiting patiently on the other side for your arrival. I have no doubts that the souls of dogs are a God given thing and we will be reunited with them. I think that Dog spelled backwards is God.

God is with you my friend, He knows the pain you must endure but will give you the peace that you need. I offer my prayer that you find it during this time.

Just recently lost both of my labs to cancer. My wife and I miss them terribly, but I know they were well cared for and happy all their lives. You have our prayers.
