    Heading to the Doctor today..

I hate missing work but feel it is necessary in this case. I have an injury on my middle finger on my left hand( no, it's not a repetitive stress injury). I tried treating it for a couple of days with anti-biotic salve and soaking it in saline solution. I don't know how I hurt it, but my methods didn't work. So now I have an infected finger swollen to twice it's normal size and a large pocket of puss along the nail bed. I am trying to get in with my physician or one of his associates when they open at 9 this morning. If not I am headed to the emergency room. I see being lanced in my immediate future. Wonder if I should take a fresh change of undershorts just in case my body does something involuntary? Keep me in your prayers.

No just red on the finger in the area of the infection. Finger hurts though, figure that's due to the swollen, tight skin.

I hope it works out for you and an easy treatment.

This sounds very similar to something that happened to me back in Oct. A very very minor nick that didn't even bring
blood led to a staph infected finger, swollen from the tip of the thumb almost to the wrist.

Don't delay getting it treated. The sooner that is cleaned out, the pus sent to a lab to ID the organisms and
learn which antibiotics it responds to, and the sooner you get started on an antibiotic the better. In my case it
turned out to be an infection with a community acquired MRSA. That's nothing to fool with. Did I say DON'T DELAY.

    Did I say don't delay. Don't delay.

Should be heading to the ER, not waiting for the doc. Infections that are winning are nothing to play around with. It can go from what you have to loosing a hand in a day.

Got an appointment with the doctor at 11:45 a.m. today. Heading out the door now. Will keep you all informed. I am going to my doctor because my father got MRSA during a stay at our local hospital. I trust my doctor to have a higher level of care.

Just so you know--- there are two forms of MRSA. Hospital acquired and community acquired. They are NOT the same
bug, and have different antimicrobial resistance patterns. Absolutely mention this to your physician. Good luck.
