I need two really big favors. I would like you to say a few prayers.
My cousin Brian has been having a really difficult time battling the cancer in him and he has also had a tough time staying healthy with all the various side effects associated with his treatments.
I know prayer works. A few months ago I received an email which contained an update on Brian's condition. Brian was starting a new treatment which would have some really nasty side effects and some of those side effects would be very painful for him. That evening when I finished reading the email I stepped out onto my back porch and I prayed for God to give me Brian's pain. I explained to God that I was strong enough to handle the pain and I was willing to accept Brian's pain as my own. Within an hour or so I had injured my foot (my big toe on my right foot) while running in my backyard to retrieve one of my dogs who was barking at a feral cat sitting atop our fence. I thought I had re-injured a hairline fracture in my toe that dates back to my high school football days...pain usually goes away in a few days. This time the pain was more intense than usual. I wrapped it up and it felt a little better. A day or so later I had very little pain so I decided not to unwrap it. A little while later, the pain returned with a vengeance. This happened every few days. I would later discover that the toe was actually dislocated and what was happening was after the wrap was removed the toe would dislocate again. Once I got the toe properly back in place the pain went away. This however wasn't the worst of the pain. Shortly after dislocating my toe, I injured my back. About 15 years ago I threw out my back for the first time and it has never been the same since. Every once in a while my back will go out and I'll have a little pain and some discomfort for a few days maybe a week tops...Not this time. This time when it hit, it hit so hard that I was knocked off my feet and I was on the floor of my bathroom unable to move for nearly two hours and wouldn't you know it, I had just put the cellphone on the night stand to charge. This time it took nearly a full month for the pain to go away and my back to recover. It took a long time just to stand up straight and I walked with a cain almost the entire time. During this time, Brian's Doctor was very pleased with how well Brian handled the treatment and was glad to see that Brian seemed to experience very few side effects. During this time there was also shrinkage in Brian's tumors. I know prayer works.
Brian is having a very difficult time right now and I'd like to ask for your help.
Please do me two really big favors:
First, please say a prayer for Brian and please say a prayer for Brian's wife and son.
Second, please tell God that I am once again strong enough to handle more pain and I am more than willing to accept Brian's pain and then please pray for God to give me Brian's pain.
Thank you, and may God bless you and your family.
