There is a push on to NOT name the next aircraft carrier after President Ford. The name America is offered as a substitute, since the previous America was recently disposed of by sinking. Personally I do not like naming ships after living people. Curious to see if his death changes anyone's opinion.

A Republican President that later was awarded the The John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award.

The Award was created in 1989 by members of President Kennedy's family to honor President John F. Kennedy and recognize and celebrate the quality of political courage that he admired most.

The Profile in Courage Award is administered by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. A distinguished bipartisan committee named by the Foundation reviews all nominations, and selects the recipient or recipients of the award.

Sad to see him pass, altho 93 is indeed a very fine ''innings''.

I always liked the man - his demeanor struck me as mild and civil. I couldn't comment totally on his policy approach as I was in UK back then but certainly - after Nixon - this was quite a change

    RIP Mr Ford.
