    Wow Fathersday present

Visiting Gilleys in Texas was on my bucket list. Never made it before it had a little fire.

This morning we finished loading the last trailer of hay for the year and the wife is figuring the costs and sale of the hay and then she says I have this for you and it is reservations in Sparks Nevada to a show featuring Mickey Gilley and the new opening of Gilleys at the John Ascuagas Nugget.

66 and I am stoked. I know he had a stroke and can't play the piano anymore but just the opportunity to meet him has me tripped.

The show is tomorrow night. Understand I am like the guy in confession telling the priest how he made out last night with the most beautiful woman he has ever met. The priest offered three acts of contrition and he asked what is that and the priest replied every Catholic knows what that is he replied I am not Catholic I just had to tell some one.

as a youngster growing up in Houston our parents would take us to Gilleys and we would play with toys under all the tables.

Sounds like fun. Have a great time!

I rode the bull around 1981 or 1982 - went on a trip to Galvaston with my dad. There was a real cowgirl who rode it at 9, so he pushed me to do it at 10. The only saving grace was that I was wearing shorts, it was humid, and I stuck to the bull for the full two minutes (it seemed like forever). It was a cool place but smaller than I expected. I still have pictures somewhere - if I can find them I'll post one.

What an awesome evening. I learned several things. Mickey Gilley and I are old. My life has been easier than his even though I am not wealthy. He fell and broke an ankle so he was on a electric scooter. He still gave it I hour and 30 minutes with a lot of video and back up. The bar and Bull ride are something for a hold my beer and watch this crowd I am long past that but now I can scratch that off my bucket list.

The wife and I ate BBQ and corn chowder until gluttony came to mind.

Now settling back to the life of an old retired guy.

Keep safe and I carried the entire evening. Going into Gilleys the guy at the door checking ID's touched my back where I carry and never said a word.

Navy Dude it is in a casino and no cameras allowed.

I have heard it said that you can tell the mans character by the woman he has. You, sir, must be a great man! Keep her and cherish her

You've got a fine wife there, Mano... hope you let her know in your own special way!

Stay safe, and enjoy the show!

I moved down there from North Texas in the mid 70's, and got to go before the fire. That place was crazy then! Glad you got to see Mickey. You know he grew up about 30-40 miles from where my mom grew up, in Ferriday, Louisiana. Momma said she knew of the family (Jerry Lee), & they were were PWT. Her words, not mine! I do know those cousins CAN sing!
