Made it to Grand Forks, ND

Well, I manged to make it here in once piece...I thought Oklahoma was flat....its got nothin on ND...lol

I thought I'd post my experience with Northwest Airlines as far as transporting a firearm. It was so easy...the one thing that I recommend is calling the ticket counter ahead of time and telling them that you will be checking one in. I had to open up the suitcase that it was in, unlock the case, and show them that it was unloaded. I had to sign a bright orange card stating that it was unloaded, stick it in the suitcase and locked it back up. Now I read somewhere that some think that they tag your suitcase with a special tag...well, I did notice that mine had a different color tag than others. Anyways...no problems and hassle free. So this hotel room is my home for the next 4wks...ugh.

Glad your trip to Grand Forks was easy as far as flying.

Yeah the eastern side of the state is flat. Sometime you should check out Medora where Teddy Roosevelt ran a herd for a couple of yrs. The badlands are a lot prettier.

There are couple of good places across the border to eat...don't know any names off the top of my head and there is a Cabellas in E Grand Forks, MN

CBP is starting up a new operations site here, to patrol the canadian border, there is no permanant staff or maint here yet, so some of the other sites are required to send maint to maintain what aircraft they have already. I volunteered to come up here. Great Overtime 6 days a week, 12 hr days.

4 weeks now is nothing!! I lived there 4.5 years, and my parents and family all still live there.

You have to eat at The Red Pepper(new location, but you'll find it easy enough)...Southgate(on Washington) ...... 42nd St Eatery(I think it's still called that)...... The town is easy to navigate.

BTW, I worked at Rydell's when I was there. Big dealership for a small town!

Oh man how could I forget about the Red Pepper, HnK he's right, you have to stop at the Pepper and try a Grinder w/ Everything and you should probably throw in a couple cheese tostadas as well. XDinSC when did they move? That kind of sucks, I liked their old hole in the wall building at the end of University. Another place to try is the I-29 Cafe, the Trucker's Special is a heart attack on a plate, but it makes great drunk food at 0300.
