    June Promotions

Well, with a line number of 10,952 I finally made Staff. I went to my promotion ceremony on Thursday, and finally got some pictures back.

It's weird, I've been called Sgt. several times since then, but it usually takes me a little while to realize that they are talking to me!

I made Staff Sergeant twice. Once in 1951 and again in 1955 after I had a break in service and lost a stripe. I was a Staff for a total of 12 years in my service career. Then I made tech and master in the last two years of my service. It was a time when the only way to get promoted was to be in the right job at the right time. I wish the new sergeant well and hope he does better than a guy with three years of college, outstanding APRs and working on the presidential aircraft. The exigencies of the service....

Congrats Sarge! I remember the time I made staff. I finally went from the youngest and lowest ranking launch facility manager to just one more of the numerous staffs on staff, so to speak! I didn't go career though and we parted ways at 8 years. Good work and thanks for serving!

Actually, I'll be twenty-six this month. Which I realize isn't that old, but it isn't that young either. However, looking at those pictures I realize how much a difference hair makes. My supervisor (the guy behind me putting my jacket on) has a full head of hair and doesn't look young; while my nicely shaved head makes me look about twelve or so.

Sorry Captain Crunch, the user name stays! But one of these days I might actually get an avatar.

I am by no means the youngest staff in the Air Force, but I do know that with less then four years in, I am one of the most junior Weapons Maintenance Team Chiefs in the Air Force (most Maintenance Team Chiefs have been in for at least six to eight years). Spionen, I think my job is a testament to what my superiors feel my potential is. And to be completely honest, it scares the bejeezus out of me sometimes.

    But again, thank you everyone.
