    My son joins the USMC

Today I swore my son into the United States Marine Corps.

He turned 18 week before last.

He's enlisting to be an infantryman.

As y'all might imagine, I'm a proud Dad.

Good 2 go! We need more people like him!

Last thing I heard, 0321 - Recon Marine, was now a primary. What option did he get? 03xx?

Of course he can always volunteer for the Recon Indoc at SOI or the FMF.

Badger - I can share your pride Sir ... and applaud the boy's decision.

My step son at not much over 19 enlisted in US Navy Last February - he is now graduated and down in Pensacola. ..... he's done one month's aircrew apprentice and is currently doing a longish series of classes on tech stuff - electronics etc.

He hopes to be flying before the year is out. Wife and I are well proud of him.

Congratulations! I'm already waiting for the day my son tells us he's enlisting in the Corps (and we don't even have kids yet). I already know I'll be the proudest mother on the block!

Here's wishing him the best in his future (and a reasonable DI)!

Wow, do they have any of those? I remember telling one guy during basic who thought the DI hated him and was out to get him, "Hey, he doesn't hate you individually, he's paid to hate everybody!" Actually most of 'em are pro's who are great at what they do. You just don't see it until much later.....

Congrats to you badgerw! And you got to swear him in, must have been a great moment. Tell him thanks from us vets for carrying the torch.

So now he is one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children. Caguiets, they seem perfectly normal, reasonable and gentle to me.

Good for him and good for us that their are young people like him who are ready to serve.
