    Bad day Today

When I moved to the Philippines I had my son take care of my 2 best friends until my return.
Well he e-mailed me today and informed me that Ozzy the oldest of my German Shepards died today, it is tearing me up inside because I wasn't there for him, he was the the kind of dog that only comes along once in a lifetime.
I would have brought him with me but he was too old and would be miserable here in the heat.
    I will miss him dearly.

    Good bye my Ozzy

It's amazing how close one can get to that one special dog. Lost just such a friend, companion, guardian of family and possessions of sixteen years about three years ago. But I wouldn't trade or miss that time and I bet you wouldn't either. My condolences to you, losing a close companion is never easy.

I'm so sorry. It's unfortunate (and maybe selfish to wish) that our furry friends can't outlive us so that we don't have to go through the hurt of their passing.

    I've lost some good friends.

    Hang in there.

Sorry for your loss. A good friend is hard to find. A good friend who becomes part of the family is even harder. I have been there as well. In 1997 my wife gave my a kitten as a birthday gift. The kitten was so cute she stole my heart. I named her Bandit. About 20 months later she was hit by a car or truck and killed. My wife called me at work, it was a half hour before I could resume my work. I still have tears thinking about her. My wife is the same with her border collie Mandy who we lost in 2003. The pain only means they were loved very deeply and will be sorely missed. Remember the good times you had. Also get another so you and your other dog don't greave so much. Yes dogs do greave too. Most of all take care of yourself and know there are others here for you. My prayers for you, your family and Ozzy.

Sorry Rhome, I feel your pain.

Its always tough to lose a good dog.
I know what you mean about not being there for your pal.
I lost my childhood dog one week after I shipped out to bootcamp.
That dog was the best I've had.
I knew he was old and all that, but it sure made it hard knowing that he died alone and I was hundreds of miles away.

More recent, I've lost two in the past mos. It wasnt much easier. One was young and the other was older. Life marches on.

Sigsauer is right, all dogs do go to heaven. Its funny to think about what a dog heaven would be like.
I bet there is lots of "interesting" things to sniff.

I'm sure you will have many memories of this wonderful pal. I'm sorry, it's a real heartbreaker. My dog is my best pal and in fact like another family member. You have my sympathies for your loss.

Sorry to hear. It's harder losing a dog than a woman.
