Unhappy My grandfather passed away today

Well, it happened - my mom's dad passed away today. Last week, I heard he had pneumonia, but was stable in ok condition. Yesterday, I got a call from my brother that my mom had flown out to CA to be with him, as his kidneys shut down and he basically gave up. I don't know what to think. He wasn't living around me when I grew up, but I always loved going to visit him and when he came. As I got older, I realized how much of a pain in the butt he was, but I still loved him (and at least I figured out where my mom got it from!). This makes at least 5 of my 6 grandparents (mom remarried after she and my dad separated) that have passed - I say at least because I don't know the status of my father's father. The last time I saw him was 1995, and he was in his 80's then. After my dad passed away, my only contact with that side of my family has been through my uncle in PA, but now he and I are not on speaking terms (both of us are too bloody stubborn to call the other).

No real meaning to this post, just had to get it off my chest.

Sorry about your grandad Chooie. I only met one grandparent, and he died when I was in grammar school. Too bad about your father's father not being available to you.

    Sorry about the loss!

So very sorry to hear about your loss. It's hard to lose a grandparent or a parent. I know how you feel. There is a void in your heart.

Just think of the good times you had with him and keep him close to your heart.

    Sorry for your loss Chooie.

    Call your Uncle in Pennsylvania.

Chooie, I'm sorry about the loss of your Grandfather. I also agree with QK. Call your uncle. Make the effort. The worst thing that can happen is that you end up right where you are, but there is a chance that things will improve. If the worst happens you can still know that you made the effort and that is a very freeing bit of knowledge.

    Chooie,

Sorry about your grandfather. Been there with the loss of family.
Like the others have said, be the bigger man and call your uncle.
It will make you feel better.

Mine are all gone too, I was lucky to have many years with all four of my Grandparents. It's a rule of life, there is always an end. Be glad for the time you had with him.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I only knew two of my grandparents. Lost Grandpa while still quite young and Grandma just after I enlisted. I'm old enough know that there are only a few "older" relatives left. Enjoy your family while you can. Have you and your family in prayer.

+1 on the call your uncle bandwagon.

So sorry for your loss...I was fortuante enough to know 2 of my grandparents - grandma on mom's side & grandpa on my dad's side. The others died before I was born and the other passed away when I was 2.

May God comfort you during this time....
