Hello Everyone,

My wife and I are raising money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) by participating in the Hike for Discovery program. Hike for Discovery is a nonprofit adventure fundraising program benefiting LLS. The money we raise will pay for education programs, support groups, and financial planning for afflicted families. It will continue to fund the five grants for local researchers at the University of Michigan and Children's Hospital of Michigan as well as all others who are working toward better treatments and cures. Their efforts are critical, because blood cancers kill more children in the United States than any other cancer and strike even more adults. An estimated 110,000 new cases of blood cancers will be diagnosed nationwide, this year alone and an estimated 55,000 patients will die of these diseases. Your contributions are 100% tax deductible, and at least 75% of all contributions go directly toward research and patient services in Michigan. We will be training daily and hiking weekly with our teammates to prepare for a hike in Yosemite National Park in June. In exchange for the training and preparation help we will receive, we have committed to raising money for LLS to fund research and provide for patient services. Every mile we train will help us prepare for this exciting activity just as every dollar we raise will help LLS find treatments and cures for blood cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma and Hodgkin's disease.
