Hate to hear that the inevitable has come to bear upon such an icon. He's definitely been a part of American history for me. His tenure with the NRA has nothing to do with my feelings at this time. One of my three favorite actors of all time. He was always sincere in everything he did at least from the public eye. May he rest in peace, and God-speed unto eternity. I know within my heart that his soul must be truly amazed at this time. I'm almost sure he had some idea.

In June 1998, Heston was elected president of the National Rifle Association, for which he had posed for ads holding a rifle. He delivered a jab at then-President Clinton, saying, "America doesn't trust you with our 21-year-old daughters, and we sure, Lord, don't trust you with our guns."
I kinda like that there quote it says it all

Man... I am gonna miss him. He was a great actor. A friend of mine said once that he seemed to choose characters that were almost certainly doomed from the beginning and they knew it but chose to fight to the bitter end.

Soylent Green, Planet of the Apes, The Agony and the Ecstasy & El Cid were some of my all time favorites.

This is sad news indeed, but not unexpected.

Mr. Heston had been in poor health for some time.

RIP. I'll have to dedicate some range time in his honor.

We have lost yet another truly great American.

One of the best President that the NRA ever had, a great actor, and a hell of a good American in fact. I put his death right up there with the death of Ronald Reagan. They were 2 cut from the same cloth.

    May he rest in peace.

    A great man passes....

The Associated Press: Charlton Heston Dead at 84

Charlton Heston died today at age 84, It is always hard to believe when someone as profound as Heston passes. Even though he did all his famous movies before I was born, I have watched everyone of them. A great actor, leader and man. I know he will be greatly missed by all.

RIP Mr. Heston. You will be missed. Not only by your family and friends, but by the millions of fans who grew up watching you on the silver screen. You were and will continue to be an American icon. A fighter for the rights of the people, from the civil rights movement to the gun rights fight you helped lead the way.
Be assured that even now in death, your followers will fight on in the struggle, remembering the words from your 2000 NRA speech "from my cold dead hands". I say again, as a grateful American, Thank you, and may God welcome you home with open arms.
