I just received word that my grandmother Frances has passed away at the age of 85.
She's been "terminal" with cancer (of several organs, starting from the lungs) for a few years, as the result of smoking cigarettes for 4 or 5 decades. For the last few weeks of her life, she was in significant pain, and towards the end, was in and out of consciousness.
The fact that her condition progressed so quickly over the last six weeks or so was almost a blessing for her, in that she didn't suffer very long.
She requested to be baptized just a few days before her death - my Dad said she's always talked about wanting to do so.
I'm a very spiritual but not religious person, but since she is, I said a little prayer for her anyway.
This thread isn't really a request for sympathy; I'm doing well emotionally. I'm doing my best to be supportive for my family members who aren't doing so well.
Thanks for any kind wishes, and I'm sure my newly-baptized Grandma Frances appreciates prayers.
This is one cool online community.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.

My condolences to you and your family. You may be OK now but sometime you'll stop and that one special memory the two of you shared will come to mind and then it will hit you. When that happens we're here for you.

Your Grandma Frances will be in my prayers.
Liberty is an inherently offensive lifestyle. Living in a free society guarantees that each one of us will see our most cherished principles and beliefs questioned and in some cases mocked. It's worth it.

Glad to hear that your gramma was baptized before her passing.
This can provide comfort, peace, and solace after losing a loved one.
This is my prayer to you and your family: for peace and solace during a difficult time. She'll undoubedly be missed, but those with Faith have the assurance of seeing her again......

I am sad for you and your family, and happy for her as she is with our Lord, Jesus.
