(Check your local schools, if you don't know for sure. Teachers have no place making trauma/advanced medical calls, as they are increasingly called upon to do.)
That's cool, I completely understand that. Thank you for clarifying. The two high schools I went to not so long ago both maintained a properly-trained nurse crew (as in, several), and it didn't occur to me that nurses were another one of those things disappearing from schools. Bad idea no matter how you look at it.

Thank you everyone. His BP this morning was 132/39. Not great, but he's conscious and the half-life is 24-30 hours, IIRC.

The backstory just gets better and better. There was indeed a school nurse. RN for 13 years, who, "Just didn't think it was that serious...." I would rather have morons in the ED where at least there is some cross-coverage, not taking care of kids...

Thank the Lord for a genuine miracle, and pray for some serious "discernment." Unfortunately that whole "free-will" thing gets in the way of self-assessment all too often.

was this a simple accidental OD , or a suicide attempt?
I 100% agree about the medical issues at the schools...if you don't have the knowledge..then refer to someone that does...teachers are great people, not medically trained...and if the RN's aren't going to do there job, then they should be fired and loose there license.
my prayers go out to this family. it must be a very hard time for them.

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms ... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes ... they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man. Thomas Jefferson

Glad to hear the kid's getting better. This really does sound like gross incompetence on the part of the school and the registered nurse who should know damn well better. Business mistakes due to incompetence often can be fixed, but health and medical mistakes don't usually afford that second chance.
