That's my girl
This is a discussion on That's my girl within the Bob & Terry's Place forums, part of the The Back Porch category; I was doing some yard work today and came across this little guy. My daughter was thrilled to hold this future varmint getter....

Isn't that one of those vicious poisonous critters? Then there is the snake.

Please be careful with those kinds of teachings, not that they are wrong but my cousin who was about 2 at the time came into the house and said a worm had bitten her. They finally got out of her that a worm had bitten the dog and she tried to get the worm away. The dog died and my cousin almost did. The worm was about the same size as the one in the picture and looks like my cousin was about the same age.
Be sure she knows not to try it on her own.

I have more of a problem with a 2 year old being left outside by herself than a little girl holding a harmless snake.

that was 55 years ago and she wasn't outside by herself. Her 4 year old sister was with her.

I spent a good amount of my youth handling reptiles, both venomous and not. To a child many of them will look similar. Just make sure she doesn't try to handle snakes alone before she's old enough to identify them. (Size REALLY doesn't matter here.)

Certainly be careful, but do enjoy nature...she's a cutie!
"That I cannot do."
"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."
