Lost a friend today
Today I had to put my companion of about ten years to sheep. Hershey was my Chihuahua, Rose gave her to me for my birthday back in 1999 after I retired, so she was with me 24/7. Last year we found out she had a heart murmur and Tuesday night she had trouble breathing, so on Wenesday I took her to the Vet he gave her some meds, but didn't think it would be a good out come. I brought her home and stayed with her all night and I just couldn't watch her suffer anymore, so today I took her back to the Vet and had her put to sleep. Turns out she was drownding, as her lungs were filling with liquid. So today is a bad day for me.

Sorry for the loss, I have had to bring many for that final walk and still cry like a big baby every time. I feel the same way when a dog dies in a movie, yet feel nothing for the people in the movie. I think it's the absolute trust and love you get from a dog that makes them SO special. Take the time and mourn her loss, then get another...the next one is NOT a replacement! The next one helps you celebrate the one who came before.

Sorry for your loss. I lost my buddy of fifteen years last year.
You did the right thing by putting her out of her misery.

Sorry for your loss. For the most part, it would behoove people to observe dogs and their owners to understand the true meaning of friendship.

I usually deal with situations like this with a bit of humor. As far as the loss of a best friend I usually think of this one:
Women always want to be "man's best friend" but lock them and your dog in your basement for an hour and see which one is happy to see you when you let them out!
I'm sorry for your loss. Hope that brought a little smile to your face.

Sorry for your loss, it's a tough situation.
I feel your pain.
Canines are our best friends...they wag their tail and not their tongues.
We lost a great dog in a freak accident last summer.
Take care, you'll find another friend in due time.

I'm sorry to hear this - I lost my cat of thirteen years in February and the house hasn't felt the same ever since. My thoughts are with you.

I feel your loss my friend. I've been there many times before and will be there again. They are an important part of the family.

My heart goes out to you. I know you miss your friend very much. I lost my 17 year old cat several years ago. It broke my heart when I had to send her to the Rainbow Bridge. I was the final loving thing I could do for my sweet little furry friend. I cried quite a while after that terrible day.
In time you will find another friend to love again. Give yourself some time grieve.

You have my heartfelt sympathies. I've laid way too many to rest, and several just in the past couple of years. I have too many pictures of them and the good days gone by, and always remember each and every one of them. Some went through some rough times with me, but they've all made me laugh, and were always there when I needed someone whom had nothing bad to say. God bless each and every one of our pets and companions here and gone, and God Bless those who must go on without them.
I'll let Twinkie know Hershey is on her way, so she'll have a friend when she gets there.
