Daughter injured in NJ
My daughter got injured while on vacation in NJ with my brothers.
I will be leaving NC first thing 0600 to drive up to pick her up.
Bringing my G22 for the ride with a lock box so that once I hit the Socialist states I will disarm and lock up.
Had to remove my Federal Hydra-Shok rounds for straight FMJ.
I also only loaded 10 rounds per mag as I wasn't too sure what their law states.
Daughter is scuffed up and bruised but ok. Left the ER at 2330 tonight.
Wish me luck and I'll let everyone know what happened when I get back.
Keep down the fort and stay the course.
Chris

Do you know a lot about NJ laws?

Seems to me that even having a lock box with a weapon while 'stopping' in NJ can create some BIG problems if discovered.
Stay armed...obey all traffic laws

...stay safe!
I need to separate ammo from gun, each in a locked box. Can only have in vehicle if going straight to destination, no driving around.

Hope she is ok, just watch out on cocaine alley (I-95) going through Halifax county they always seem to have speed traps through there.

No, you can have it in your vehicle as long as you are legal AT your destination. Your seperating of ammo and gun is good, and in compliance with the federal law that allows you to travel with a firearm.
Since NJ is your destination you are in violation of NJ law, and the federal law offers you no protection. At least that's how I read it, but I could be wrong. With all that said I hope your trip is uneventful and that you return home safe and sound. I am sorry to hear about your daughter and hope she too is OK.

Be safe. Hope all is well with your daughter.
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

The trick is to drive through NJ--from a jurisdiction in which you may possess, into another jurisdiction in which you may possess.
You might want to print this out and have a copy with you.
TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 44 >§ 926A. Interstate transportation of firearms
Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console.
