Well, my cousin no longer matters......

I posted a few days ago about my irritation at my cousin giving me only 2 weeks to fly to Richmond, and select what pieces of my mother's furniture that I wanted, after he had her put in a nursing home. I wasn't thrilled about the nursing home, as I know that it was against my mother's wishes. But I was trying to keep an open mind, and assess her condition when I saw her Thursday. Well, that no longer matters. My cousin called me at 8:30 am PDT, to let me know that my mother passed away 3 hours earlier. So instead of flying back to simply select furniture and see whether my mother should be in the nursing home to arranging funeral services. According to my cousin, she rapidly deteriorated. For the last 2 days, she wasn't recognizing people, and today she went into respiratory arrest and couldn't be revived. I'm unsure whether the attempt was made by nursing home staff, the rescue squad, or ER. I'll check into that later. I have much more confidence in the Ashland Rescue Squad then I do any nursing home. And I prefer that resuscitation be continued to the ER, and not stopped on scene.

But regardless, my rant no longer matter, and my feelings of frustration have replaced by those of saddened. I had hoped to surprise her Thursday. I just wish she could have held on a few more days, but unfortunately it was out of her control. So, thanks for all of the comments, both pro and con, on my rant. I do appreciate them.
