I just had a thought. Some of the drug manufacturers help people who are having trouble paying for medication. You might try contacting them.
As for surgery, we have a local hospital (Truman Medical Center). The hospital is set up for folks who have limited funds. And, the doctors are very good doctors. They are specialists who take turns donating their time at Truman Medical Center.
I don't know where you're located, but you might contact your state representatives. They might be able to help out.
As for a job: You might want to contact your state unemployment office. They have a list of available jobs.

Thumper, you're in my thoughts. You aren't alone, and your hardships are just as important as the next person's. Don't give up. Those of us who are struggling and looking for work will prevail, if we keep trying. You're 11 months closer to your next job.

A friend of mine said that the U.S. Postal Service has lots of openings. Average pay is $57,000 a year.
Also, check out UPS and Fed Ex. They do a lot of hiring for the holiday season.
It might start out temporary, but could possibly lead to permanent.

Hang in there brother. I'm in the same boat as you. I'm waiting on an acceptance to take a job overseas sans family for 1 year. So far only job that has called me back.
I haven't worked since July 09. You have up and down days, but remember every day you wake up breathing, your ahead of the game (it works for me)
