This is a discussion on Kiddo got the Swine Flu within the Bob & Terry's Place forums, part of the The Back Porch category; I've been fighting a cold that basically took it out of me for the last month or so. So I probably had it too. Well ...

Sorry to hear about that.
Hope you get a handle on your daughter's high fever. 103 is not good.
I'm getting paranoid about touching door knobs, shopping carts, etc.
And I stopped shaking people's hands at church.
Sometimes on a clear day, I can see into the future with this spotting scope.

We've been giving her alternating Tylenol and Ibuprofen per the doctors orders. That has kept her fever hovering about 100. Still not great, but better.

About a month ago, my mother, father and sister all had the h1n1. I was in the house with all of them. I never got it, thank the lord. But it didnt look fun, not too different than regular flu, but they all had really bad head aches on top of everyything else that comes with a flu...Hope yall get better soon.

Keep a close eye on it.
Friends of ours have a 30 year old son that just came off a respirator and out of a coma from a bout with the H1N1. A priest was called three times in the last week. He was healthy and just blew it off at first.
This is not the one to fool around with.
Best of luck.

I hope that when you took that child to the doctor and s/he diagnosed it as swine flu that an appropriate anti-viral medication was prescribed. If not and you can still contact the doc within less than 48 hours or so from onset, certainly put in a call and ask if it would be appropriate for your child. In fact, ask anyway if not already on the medicine menu.

WE came down with some stuff that was not like any normal flu I've ever seen, the kids (10 & 12) ran 103* F temp for some days. Took them to the Doc, and he says "it's a flu", (DUH), and they were no longer even testing or doing anything if it was the swine flu, including no tamiflu.
It took about 4 days to ditch the fever, over a week to get over the major part of it. It hit the chest, congestion, etc. as well. It was somewhat nasty, but with what I've read and people in the medical field have told me, it was the swine flu.
So, when it came to the shots I told them what we had and they just said, "oh , you don't need the shot then".

Both of my daughters just got over it. They had fever for a solid week with 3 - 4 days at 102.5 to a bit over 103.
I took them to our doctor twice because I was scared for them, but they pulled through OK.
I hope yours do well. The news makes it sound scary and it is for a few. However, most healthy people handle it well.

Praying for both of you. If you haven't already go see a Dr. as soon as possible if not sooner. Swine Flu is nothing to take lightly. I don't want to scare you but about a month or so ago a local boy didn't survive. I believe it was caught late. This past weekend there was a youth baseball tournament in his honor since he loved baseball.

The swine flu put me down in bed for two solid weeks and I'm 2 weeks past it and still having after effects of coughing bouts and return of sore throat. One thing I learned after the fact is that this type of viral infection always starts out in the top back of the throat usually with scratchiness and coughing. I was told that had I gargled about every hour with a mouth wash and then salt water there was a good chance the virus would have been killed off before it got a hold of me.

BTDT.
Son came home from church camp with the flu on Thursday.
By Sun. night, I was feeling lousy.
By Mon. a.m., terrible. Body aches, terrible headache, cough, fever. Went to the Dr. on Tues with 102+ fever and started on Tamiflu.
Called other son with 8 month old grandson to warn them.
By Wed., my fever was 103.6 and the baby was on the way to the hospital. I hoped I would die and get put out of my misery.
Daughter came down with it several days later. Wife only got the cough. VERY contagious stuff. We all survived.
My sympathies. I fully understand.
