I just got a call saying that someone has passed the first stage of testing as a possible kidney donor! Blood typing and crossmatch has been done and we are fully compatible, so all the other testing can proceed. HLA antigen matching remains, and the donor could be disqualified at any time, but we've passed the first big hurdle. The other tests will take another couple of weeks, but it is possible that I could have a new kidney by June, and celebrate the 4th with a new lease on life!

Has to be a stressful year so far, all the not knowing etc - a firm prospect would indeed make for the sun shining brighter. Looking to hear continued better news as the weeks pass.
