Back in 7th or 8th grade, some of the kids I went to school with started experimenting with choking themselves out. One kid said he would use a belt around the rod in his closet. I remember being surprised even then that they didnít have an accident and kill themselves.
Either way, it is tragic loss for everyone involved.

More people die of suicide than you could believe. More than things like cancer.

So Sorry to hear that, I could never imagine the loss of any of my Boys. That is why we teach them strong morals, love them always and teach them to have faith in God, he will make things better no matter what.

That and constant communication and involvement in every part of their lives is all we can do, and pray they make the right choices in life. One thing for sure is for those poor parents, Christmas will never be the same again.....

Wow. I've known people to lose their kids, and one by suicide. None ever got over it... it destroyed many lives. I don't know if it's anything anyone ever learns to deal with at all. It's a real shame. Unfortunately, 15-17 yrs are the ages to really really watch them.

YUP!! I knew of a young lady (knew her dad) who got his shotgun and blew herself apart. She lived just long enough after to tell the critical care docs she wanted to live.

Fifteen to seventeen year olds need careful supervision, even as they demand * and need* increasing freedom. At that age too many of them convince themselves that their friend's lives are wonderful and their's not worth anything. They get wrapped up in peer idol worship and envy, and too often can't discern that their "friends" with the "wonderful lives" are pathological liars telling tall tales about-- grades, vacations, family status, personal freedom, sexual adventure, and the size of their allowance. They compare themselves unfavorably and get into a hormone enhanced depression--and hide it too well till it is too late.
