    Unhappy Mrs ExSoldier's Father

My wife's dad is 86. He went into the VA Hospital (he is a WWII combat vet and certified war hero holding the Navy Cross and the Silver Star for 18 air to air kills in the Pacific) yesterday in Lake City FL but they said he needed a heart specialist so they sent him via ambulance to Gainesville. We were notified just a little while ago that it will be a near miracle if he survives the night. His condition is considered "grave" and a DNR document has been signed and implemented. Cathy, my wife, is strong but this is her dad and she lost her mom 14 years ago. She is the executor of the estate. She has chemotherapy she cannot miss tomorrow. IF Cathy's dad passes tonight or within the next 24 to 48 hrs we will have to take the dogs up to Lake City to get things handled. We'll probably go Saturday and come back Wednesday or Thursday. This is going to be brutal on Cathy because it will be right during the prime time nausea of the chemo effects. We'll be taking the dogs with us and get somebody to come in and take care of the cat. I'll keep you posted as best I can. Prayers for my wife's post chemo health and for inner strength for what may well be the toughest moment of her life.

Give hugs to Cathy. Don't let her skip a treatment.

Maybe sharing some of her bandwidth with her father will help dilute the chemo discomfort? I do think that women have a ton of inner strength to use if it is really called upon.

    My prayers are with you...
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.
