Slice up one dinosaur into strips, slow cook over fire, let sun dry on a line until dry, re-smoke over fire, serves 200 - 9600 folks.

Personally I prefer keeping it over a low & smokey fire until ready and less dependent on weather so much .

I sliced those sow bugs thin but they kept falling off the drying pole.

Aceokey have you ever read the foxfire books? Long before videos on the net they were the books that taught us old guys how to live primitive.

    I am enjoying the posts.

We have almost all of the Foxfire books. They are really informative - and fun to read!

That is quite similar to what we were taught in Survival School except we wrapped the tripod with parachute cloth to retain the heat and smoke, made some mighty fine tasting jerky. One caution DO NOT use a coniferous wood to smoke with, we had one element who did not listen and used pine for smoke, their jerky smelled like turpentine. If you use a fruit wood like apple or cherry you will get a sweeter tasting jerky verses using oak, maple or hickory.

"making primitive jerky" all I could picture when I read that was Andrew Dice Clay in a caveman suit doing a Geico commercial.

I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do. I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.
