Interesting show on the Science Channel on how to survive a disaster

I was watching a show on the Science channel recently that was discussing some of the physiological/psychological aspects of what our minds and bodies do during disasters (plane crashes, terrorist attacks, etc). The show presented the physiological responses of actual people that have survived disasters. The show also presents it in a way to help people increase their chances of surviving a disaster, as well providing insight into physiological/psychological responses that could actually hinder your survival in a disaster.

The video is a bit long (60 min) and it does provide some pointers at the end to help you survive and avoid some of the physiological/psychological responses that could hinder an escape and get you killed in a disaster. It was a very interesting watch.

The guy that shot up the movie theater in CO, That was his college major! His masters was on predicting what people will do in an emergency! I really expected that when he got to court He would try to blow it off as proving one of his theory's. DR

Keep in mind that any high stress situation will produce an infusion of adrenalin, and introduce these physiological and psychological changes. There are some interesting studies on the internet about the effects of combat stress and the changes one would encounter during a high stress self defense situation. It is helpful to know what will take place so you can train to minimize the effects.
